Foundation Diploma In The Management Of Information System

 

This course is suitable for young people who want to work with computers and need some entry-level education.

Modules

  • FO1: Communication Skills
  • FO2: Arithmetic
  • FO3: Computing Awareness
  • FO4: Use of Packages
  • FO5: Book-Keeping
  • FO6: Office Practice

Each module is designed to introduce the student to the basic elements of information systems practices.


All modules defined within the course structure may be taken individually or collectively to form a Foundation Diploma.


Assessment

Each module (except FO4) will be assessed by a single 2.5 hours externally set examination paper. The module FO4, is assessed by the internal completion of a checklist defining the skills identified in the objectives which follow. Candidates will be expected to be able to demonstrate their mastery of these skills to an external assessor.


In order to achieve a pass grade, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate competence in ALL Level 1 objectives. To achieve a merit grade the candidate will be expected to demonstrate competence in ALL the Level 1 objectives BUT ALSO to demonstrate competence in at least 50% of Level 2 objectives in each of Wordprocessing, Spreadsheet, and Database sections.
