CIMA PROGRAMME

MESSAGE FROM THE CIMA COURSE DIRECTOR

Welcome and thank you for your interest in studying CIMA at LIT.

Here at LIT we offer a variety of study methods including weekend, revision, part-time and evening classes.  This enables us to meet the needs of our students who we recognise run busy lives.  In keeping true to our mission, we strive to build bridges between peoples’ dreams of progress within their careers and their responsibilities to family life and existing work obligations.

Recognising the significance of professional skills and their benefits, LIT has developed facilities to provide recognized professional courses such as ACCA, CAT, IMIS and CIMA. As a recognised Teaching and Examination Centre for these courses, LIT offers students the opportunity to gain professional qualifications, enabling them to be successful in the job market.

Two key elements in providing professional knowledge and skills are the availability of competent faculty and IT facilities. Both these elements are present with excellence in LIT structure. LIT boasts a high calibre faculty with knowledge and experience gained at distinguished educational institutions.  IT facilities are up-to-date and readily available.  If necessary, students are coached and advised on selection of courses and subjects.  Assistance is given to students to successfully read in their chosen area of study.

With our support and your efforts, I hope you will thoroughly enjoy your stay here at LIT, and become successful in becoming a proficient Management Accountant with a CIMA qualification

The CIMA Qualification

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is one of the world’s leading professional management institutes. LIT is a listed tuition provider on the CIMA learning scheme.

CIMA is a widely respected and recognised professional qualification sought out by many employers across the business world.  Students develop a diverse range of skills within accounting, decision making, analysis, business strategy and management.  It is the ideal qualification for those wishing to advance their career prospects into a variety of roles in financial and business management.  Relevant professional fields include: commerce, financial services, public sector or management consultancy.

Once you have become qualified, you automatically become a member of CIMA.  This gives you the privilege to act as Management Accountant for entities, whether in manufacturing, commercial / service organisations or in the public or private sector of the economy.

At the strategic level all papers must be taken at the first sitting.  However, resits can be taken in any order and combination.

The three pillars are called Business Management Pillar, Management Accounting Pillar and Financial Management Pillar. (see CIMA awards end of this page).

At each level students study subjects from each of the three learning pillars (see above diagram).
